About the Author

Hey hey. If you're reading this, you probably already know me. If so, that's fine and you know what this blog is. If not, welcome. I'm Jake and this is my card game blog. I used to have a blog for Cardfight!! Vanguard and I occasionally write for Futurecard Budgetfight when I have a bright idea (which is rare). I guess this is kind of a place to detail what this blog's about and some background information on me. Let's ride.

To start, I've played card games for literally as long as I can remember (given, that's only from about last Tuesday, but the point still stands). I played Yu-Gi-Oh! since I was in daycare as a kid and picked up Cardfight!! Vanguard around the time of its English release. In 2017, I picked up Futurecard Buddyfight. I've also tried Magic a couple of times and Force of Will. While I respect both and think they're well designed games, they haven't held my interest so much. I haven't held on to Magic because I'm a big weeb when it comes to art preference and I quit Force of Will due to locals requiring me to get home at midnight and the cards being a bit hard to find. I also dabble in Shadowverse a bit.

In terms of my confidence in my main 3 games, Buddyfight is my wheelhouse at this point. Vanguard's more or less nonexistent in my life beyond the fact that I run a Discord server that's dedicated to it. Yu-Gi-Oh! is on hiatus due to my locals being largely dead.

For mains in each game as of writing:
  • Vanguard: Nova Grappler (I'm basically on a hiatus until V-EB02 releases and I can play Dimension Police)
  • Buddyfight: Magic World (Shadow Shades, Garga, Mystic Knights) and Dragon World (casual Garga, Dragonblood Sect)
  • Yu-Gi-Oh!: When I pick up a deck, I usually start with Dinosaurs.
Next on the docket is what exactly I intend to do with this blog. This is just going to be a bit of a personal blog. I miss having a platform where I could fully articulate my thoughts. Anybody who knows me well enough knows that I tend to lose my professionalism if I'm comfortable with the people I'm talking to. There's a certain craving I miss after blowing up the Vanguard blog that I hope to satisfy with this. This is going to be just about whatever I want. Any game, any topic. I don't expect readers this time. I'm not going to talk about the community this time. This blog is for me and for anyone interested in hearing me out rather than being a blog for the sake of changing opinions. Anyway, that's about all I have to say for now. Stay frosty.
